Something's Coming On, Don't Know
What It Is But It's Getting Stronger

One articulate, powerful, piece of writing after another streams in, following the gruesome murder of Rachel Corrie, Robin Cook's resignation, America's ultimatum, the launch of the shock and awe campaign ... After each horrifying news item, I think, NOW is the time to write something and share my opinion, views, thoughts. And then I think, it's all been said. What have I to say that will be different or moving or meaningful? How will it change a micron of what's happening?

Every day, RogueNationUSA gives us new reasons to feel disgusted and outraged. The helplessness that follows is now giving way to never-before-experienced feelings of venom and hatred. As a supporter of pacifism, I am shocked at my latent capacity for even briefly holding bigoted views (such as: all Americans who aren't speaking out against the war are whitetrash!) and a burgeoning desire to bomb the living daylights out of Bush, Blair, their families (why aren't they speaking up?), and every dumb American who just doesn't get it. The hick who works at Walmart is less aware than the average gardener in Pakistan and can't see beyond his freckled nose because he doesn't need to. Beer and girls, what else does a healthy American lad need? This isn't funny any longer because these are the folk who make up the 70% of Americans that CNN samples for their mindless polls.

What does one do with all this anger? The only answer is to take to the streets. It won't stop THIS war, for sure, but if we stay charged, one day, we will become a major pain in the butts of all tyrannical dictators. Confronting empire is our challenge and the only way we can forge ahead is to communicate the Power of One to every individual opposed to war. If this sounds like touchy-feely bullshit, have your head examined. History is replete with the stories of brave women and men who have moved mountains, propelled by the sound of their conscience telling them to keep going.

What excuse do we have for our silence, for our apathy, for turning away?
