Am stricken with guilt for not having gone to see Farid and Abu Mohammad. The endless hours of pleasure provided by Munshi Raziuddin, unacknowledged. HAVE to go and condole or let them know somehow, that we share their grief.Slept till 8:00 a.m. and feel marginally better this morning. It's time to make that "what's going on" mind map again. Visual representations of information always take the edge off things. Seemingly complex information gets distilled and I feel I can cope.
Really want to get my hands on Edward Tufte's books:
1. Envisioning Information
2. Visual Explanations: Images and Quantities, Evidence and Narrative
3. The Visual Display of Quantitative Information
Bloody trouble is that nothing's less than 40 dollars. Will "look inside" on Amazon and see if they are truly worth it and save up for em.
Started on "Selected poems from the Divan-e-Shams Tabrezi" while stuck in a traffic jam on the way to work today ... about time that one got back to being human. We haven't had a poetry reading or a music lesson or a film or anything "decent" at b.i.t.s. in months. Can't allow work deadlines to get in the way of holistic development. Maybe we could request Pirzada Qasim to come over for a couple of hours and give us a lecture.
Romeo and Juliet is on at the cinema. Can't stand wimply little Leo DeCaprio but at least the film is devoid of the typical violence that plagues every movie that comes to Pakistan's big screen. Wonder if anyone wants to go check it out. Our generation has been completely cheated out of the cinema experience. There's never ever anything worth watching.
