b.i.t.s. Wins Best Education and Training Application at PASHA ICT Awards 2005

Karachi, Pakistan – December 6, 2005: Nurturing Creativity in Young Children, an application developed by b.i.t.s. for the Teachers' Resource Centre, won a coveted award for Best Application in the Education and Training Software category. The award was presented by Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), in recognition of software and service applications that have been developed in Pakistan. The PASHA ICT Awards have been instituted to acknowledge creativity, innovation and excellence in Pakistan's Information and Communication Technologies sector.

Nurturing Creativity in Young Children is a bi-lingual, interactive multimedia CD-ROM, developed in collaboration with the Teachers' Resource Centre. The CD-ROM helps Early Childhood Education teachers understand how young children truly learn, and how to create meaningful experiences for them. Laying equal, if not greater emphasis on pedagogy rather than technology, this product has been designed to supplement Pakistan's National Early Childhood Education Curriculum. Through a range of activities, puzzles, and multimedia content, the CD-ROM delivers a unique and compelling experience to teachers of young children.

Winners were announced at the Awards Presentation Gala Dinner held in Karachi and the awards were presented by Dr. Aamir Matin, Advisor to the Federal Ministry of IT and Telecom. Nurturing Creativity in Young Children was short-listed from scores of nominations by a panel of respected industry experts. The judging process for the annually held PASHA ICT Awards is rigorous and comprises of several steps including hands-on demonstrations to the judges.

In 2004, b.i.t.s. won the award for Best Application in the General Software category, for Me & U, a Human Resources product developed for Unilever Pakistan Limited.
