How YOU Can Help
Help Set Up a Camp in Abbotabad and Mansehra
The earthquake last week killed 100,000 people. The cold nights are putting a million at risk. The reason is that all the structures have either been flattened or are too precarious for anyone to stay inside. Thus whole families are sitting under the sky in the cold, rain and hailstorms that are continuing almost daily. Our brothers in the north of Pakistan are dying now from lack of a simple roof over their heads.I need you to act now and dig deep for these poor and helpless people of Kashmir and NWFP. All of you who have been to Naran, just imagine that Balakot has been flattened to rubble with not a house standing. The most crucial part of this effort is speed. If we don't help them now they may not be alive in the weeks to come. As we speak, reports of the weak and children dying from the cold have started to come in.
In conjunction with the Omer Asghar Khan Development Foundation we plan to set up tent camps in different localities of Abbottabad and Mansehra. Each camp will consist of:
1. 50 tents that will house 400 people
2. A medical cum community unit that will consist of a large tent plus a small generator for lighting
3. Food for the inhabitants
4. Cost of this camp with one month's food is Rs 1.47 million
We have set up a small information cell in our office. The numbers are +9221-587-6197-8. Please do all you can to help. Feel free to contact me for any information or assistance you need. Lastly, when you send a donation do send an e-mail with its details so we can follow it up.

Can I residing in Dubai provide shelter for these kids , or do they have to be in Pakistan?
By Mina , at 3:13 PM
URGENT! Please spread the news.
The Pakistan Government has stated that no children will be adopted and that it is their responsibility to take care of the orphans and they WILL do so. Spoke to a PIMS volunteer early this morning in Islamabad who said they are currently unsure of the status.
She has just sent an SMS saying that UNICEF has confirmed that no children are to be adopted.

words cant sufficiently describe our sorrow for all those who have perishes in this natural disaster. though we have been given an account to deposit money etc, which we have done so, many people here in europe want to donate blankets and clothes - is there a special arrangement for this- i have a huge stock of clothes for children. i Live in belgium but am pakistani originally.
By Ali khan, at 7:44 PM
its really surprising that the pakistani embassy cannot give adequate information regarding people wanting to donate clothes, blankets- or even making arrangements for flights to take the donations. really everywhere you read its lack of organisation. no coordination. here people have the means but no ends. if anyone can give some information even if it means having to pay for the shipment etc please state here- i live in brussels- belgium

I am from Toronto, Canada. We recently returned from Chitral, Pakistan. I am married to a Pakistani, however I'm a daughter of Italian origin. We too felt the magnitude of the quake on Oct. 8th and stood outstide with our 7 month old when the world shook. We are blessed to be alive and have been praying and grieving for those in these torn areas. We would like to help somehow...I'm at home on maternity leave and would like to help with the need for medications. We'll do our best to raise money from others and send it your way as soon as possible. God bless.

At this time it is difficult to transport clothing and blankets form outside pakistan as it is cost prohibitive. We here at Better Life Corp. are looking into a way to do this but at this time we do not have the resources. It is cheeper to buy those supplies in Pakistan. But anyone willing to help with shipment of goods to Pakistan we would like to hear from you. You may email us at info@betterlifecorp.org. Web site www.betterlifecorp.org

Urgent. Urgent. Urgent.
We have planned a semipermanent shelter village with the help of Pakistan Army near Muzaffarabad.
Snowfall is round the corner and will render all tents virtually unliveable. Under the guidance of Director Relief Operations, Pakistan Army in Muzaffarabad we are in the process of establishing a 100 house (fibre glass or similar material) village in one of the devastated areas. We have included residence, communal toilets, school, a small health unit and a praying area in our basic design. We need all kinds of help from all who read this massage. You are encouraged to give suggestions in terms of planning, house designing, town planning, volunteering and of course, choosing to finance a segment of this village. What you will get in reward is beyond imagination.
Jazakallah.
